As an avid music fan who has played in a number of bands and has worked professionally as a writer & photographer the majority of my career (even a DJ at WVUM in college), I have long thought and written about my wide-ranging tastes in music.
To further expand my musical knowledge (and to fill in a few holes of music I may have missed along the way), I began taking on full artist discographies with a group of friends. Whether picking an artist we were big fans of and already very familiar with or deep diving into artists we knew little about, this exercise always proved a great way to approach music - and I found I especially enjoyed putting extra thought into what I wrote about the albums I listened to along the way.
I will try to avoid getting into the weeds on too much behind-the-scenes history. I figure there are enough great sources out there if you are after that information. That said, I may dip into comparisons and explore how particular albums have been influenced and how they went on to influence others.
I will also, from time to time, share thoughts on random Top Ten lists (like I have done with my Top Ten Albums of 2022) - and I might even include some one-off, single album reviews if the mood strikes me.
I'd love to hear feedback - and am always up for a good musical debate - so feel free to comment.
